Why We Started Waggly Dog Parks

Waggly started with two dogs who didn’t quite fit in.

As dog owners themselves, Matt and Laura know firsthand how stressful traditional dog parks can feel—especially when you have large dogs who need space, calm, and room to move at their own pace. Crowds, unpredictable interactions, and limited room to roam often left their dogs feeling uncomfortable—and them feeling the same.

So they created something different.

What began as a private space for their own dogs quickly became something more. When they shared the idea with neighbors and local landowners, they discovered many people were eager to welcome pets onto their land—offering new environments, more privacy, and a safer, more relaxed experience for dogs and their owners alike.

Today, Waggly connects dog owners with privately hosted dog parks across Asheville and beyond. Our goal is simple: to give dogs more freedom to explore, give owners peace of mind, and help landowners earn extra income by sharing their space with furry visitors.
